MAKATI has earned a “Highly Functional” rating from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in the 2025 Local Committee Against Trafficking, and Violence Against Women and their Children functionality assessment.
The city posted an overall score of 101 points, reflecting strong performance in addressing violence against women, children and trafficking.

”This achievement reflects the city’s commitment to ensuring the safety of women and children from all forms of violence. We will continue to fight elements that threaten the welfare of women and children,” Mayor Nancy Binay said on Thursday, speaking in Filipino.
DILG Regional Director Maria Lourdes Agustin commended Makati for implementing programs that prevent trafficking, protect women and promote child safety.
The assessment covered four indicators: Organization (10 percent), Meetings (10 percent), Policies, Plans and Budget (30 percent), and Accomplishments (50 percent). Makati scored perfectly in Meetings with 12 points, nearly perfectly in Accomplishments with 54 out of 56, and high marks in Policies, Plans and Budget with 27 out of 30., This news data comes from:http://redcanaco.com
Through the Makati Social Welfare Department (MSWD), the city has implemented case management programs for survivors of trafficking and abuse, supported more than 1,100 women in difficult circumstances and provided economic aid to vulnerable clients.
The MSWD also conducted gender-responsive training for social workers, case management courses and large-scale awareness activities including the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women with 200 participants and Women’s Day with more than 2,400 attendees.

The assessment aims to measure how well local governments implement laws and programs against human trafficking and violence targeting women and children.
